SPACES provoke

Two exhibitions at SPACES examine the urban neighborhood and our place in it.

Artist-in-residence Ravit Mishli, from Tel Aviv, Israel, shares life in urban Israel in her solo exhibition.

And in Street Repairs, fourteen artists use the urban neighborhood as its inspiration or canvas. Aritsts have turned the gallery into a streetscape, complete with storefronts, a night club, bus stop, theater and bike shop. Photography, installation, video, dance, graffiti and sound are incorporated into an artist-envisioned urban space.

National PARK(ing) Day

Locations:
West Side Market
E 9th and Huron
Warehouse District

SPACES, in partnership with Cleveland Public Art, Hotel Bruce and GreenCityBlueLake, will create a series of PARK(ing) installations throughout downtown Cleveland,
by transforming metered parking spots into a PARK, complete with sod, seating and trees, reclaiming the street for parks and people. . . at least until the meter runs out!

Conceived as part of Street Repairs, curated by Don Harvey, the PARK(ing) project will call attention to the need for more parks and public spaces in urban neighborhoods.

Cleveland's participation in PARK(ing) is part of a National PARK(ing) Day, in which teams in New York City, San Francisco, Minneapolis, Los Angeles and Seattle will concurrently create PARK(ing) spaces.

Materials used for the installation/performances will be donated to Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity.

Street Repairs is made possible through the generous support of Donna and Stewart Kohl.
