What are America's future artists making now? Come find out when SPACES hosts an exhibition featuring some truly emerging artists in Spaces, Faces, Places & Things: An exhibition of student artwork from the Positive Education Program (PEP) of Cuyahoga County. The exhibition will be on view from May 2nd - 4th, 2003, with an opening reception on Friday, May 2nd from 4-6pm. The reception and exhibition are free and open to the public. The K - 12 students taking part in PEP have been working all year to prepare for this exhibition, which will include drawings, paintings, ceramics and sculpture. As an agency of Cuyahoga County, PEP serves the greater Cleveland community by using a collaborative and ecological approach to help troubled and troubling children and youth successfully learn and grow, blending quality education and mental health services in partnership with families, schools, and communities. On Saturday, May 3rd from 1-3pm, come see the show and meet SPACES World Artists Program resident Margaret Cogswell (New York, NY). Talk with the artist and get a sneak preview of Cuyahoga Fugues, the piece she's creating for the exhibition Elements: Matter, Body, Mind and Spirit, opening at SPACES on May 9th. SPACES is a non-profit, artist-run, alternative space gallery. Since 1978, SPACES has given over 7,000 artists in the visual and performing arts an arena in which to present challenging new ideas. SPACES is located at 2220 Superior Viaduct on the West side of the Flats. Superior Viaduct runs parallel to the Detroit Superior Bridge at the intersection of West 25th Street. |
