Artist in Residence
SPACES launches the
new SPACES World Artists Program, with its first
visiting artist, Carlos Navarrete (Santiago, Chile). Navarrete
will be holding open studio days and exhibiting his work during the Connections
exhibition Sep 13 - Oct 25, 2002.

Connections
Panel Discussion
Get an artist's perspective on international travel, as SPACES Gallery
presents a panel discussion in conjunction with the exhibition Connections:
Ohio Artists Abroad. Join us on Thursday, September 19th at 7pm
for this special event. Speakers include: Wayne Lawson, (Executive Director,
Ohio Arts Council), Susan R. Channing, (Director, SPACES), and artists
from the exhibition will discuss their interactions with other cultures,
and Chilean artist Carlos Navarrete will talk about his experiences here
in Cleveland through the new SPACES" World Artists Program. The event
and exhibition are free and open to the public, so be sure to bring a
friend! Sign language interpretation is available if requested in advance.
SPACES is a non-profit,
artist-run alternative space gallery. Since 1978, SPACES has given over
6,000 artists an arena in which to present challenging new ideas. SPACES
is located at 2220 Superior Viaduct on the West Side of the Flats. Superior
Viaduct runs parallel to the Detroit-Superior Bridge at the intersection
of West 25th Street.
