Application Form

Individual artist/all media: group exhibition The Programming Committee selects artists for exhibitions from the applications reviewed. Each exhibition generally includes a significant body of work by 4-6 artists. Please check this category if you would like to be considered for inclusion in a group exhibition.

Exhibition Proposal We accept proposals for guest organized or curated exhibitions. In addition to regular submission materials, please submit the following:

a concise (no more than one page) description of the concept of the proposed exhibition with exhibition title and names of artists;
up to five slides from each artist;
resumes of each artist and the curator, if applicable.

It's also possible for others to work on the development of a curatorial concept with you. If you are interested, please contact the gallery.

SPACE Lab focuses on smaller, experimental, timely, short-term projects or installations that are exhibited for three weeks each. Site-specific work is encouraged. SPACE Lab exhibitions are held in different areas of the gallery, depending on the arrangement of the larger, six-week primary exhibition. A SPACE Lab committee comprised of artists and two representatives from the Programming Committee select the exhibitions, scheduling them several months in advance. Artists receive a small honorarium for each SPACE Lab exhibition. A 50-100 word proposal specifically for SPACE Lab is required.

SPACE Lab applications are accepted and reviewed year-round. Students are eligible for SPACE Lab.

Video SPACES regularly shows single-channel VHS 1/2" or 3/4" video work. Please label the videotape and case with artist's name, title and date of the work. Cue the tape to a five-minute segment for preview.

Application Checklist

In order to be considered, all applications to SPACES must include:

Slides: 35mm. Please do not send original slides. Label as shown. Place up to 15 slides of your work in a clear plastic slide sheet. Not applicable for video submission.

A slide script with title, date, dimensions and medium of each work. Include a one sentence description of each image if necessary.

A 50-100 word description of the work shown in the slides. If you wish to exhibit new work, please also send a 50-100 word description of the proposed work. Send SASE for a floorplan.

For video artists, send a video script with title, date, length of tape, and a description, up to 50 words.

Your resume.

Self-addressed stamped-envelope (SASE) with sufficient postage for return of your materials.

INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.
