J. Makary
Biography
J. Makary's first dance film debuted at the American Dance Festival in 2006. Since then, she has developed film and video work influenced in equal measure by video art, classic and experimental films, contemporary movement study, and nostalgia for youth culture.
As artist-in-residence at Landmarks Exhibitions: Contemporary Projects in Philadelphia, J. recently shot "Paloma and Raul in San Serriffe," a short 16mm film with dancers and actors that is one part heated melodrama, one part cool abstraction.
