Jeff Bechtel earned his BFA in Sculpture from The Cleveland Institute of Art, Cleveland, OH. His work bridges the gap between photography and traditional painting via many digital and manual channels. It commonly involves cyclic processes of generating or acquiring images, recycling, remixing rescanning and reprocessing them. They are freely exchanged between photographs, paintings, and digital images. They are often subject to experimental image processing and standard image programs and back to the real world as paintings. Bechtel is very interested the studies of auditory and visual perception and finding ways to incorporate these rapidly changing insights into my work.
