Lauren Herzak-Bauman is a multi-media artist primarily working with ceramics and found materials to create sculptures, installations, and public commissions. Lauren makes sculptures and installations about the materiality of clay, the production of contemporary ceramics, and her evolving relationship with death and loss. Born and raised in Northeast Ohio, she studied ceramics at The University of Minnesota-Twin Cities (MFA 2009) and Bowling Green State University (BFA 2004). Lauren is the recipient of numerous grants and fellowships including two Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative Grants to realize large-scale public art projects.
Recent exhibitions include "Field" at SPACES Gallery in Cleveland, Ohio, and "From Space to Place" in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She recently completed a commissioned artwork for the newly opened Westin Hotel in downtown Cleveland. Lauren teaches ceramics and design at Cuyahoga Community College and The Cleveland Institute of Art and keeps a studio at The Screw Factory in Lakewood, Ohio.
