Robin VanLear

Biography

Robin VanLear was born in Cambridge, MA. She received her MFA in sculpture and performance art from UC Santa Barbara in 1983 .
Robin is artistic director of the department of Community Art at the Cleveland Museum of Art where she is the founder and artistic director of Parade the Circle now in its 23rd season.

Robin presented her newest performance art piece Marigold Wars at FusionFest 2011. In 2010 she presented Seeking Radiance at Spaces Gallery as part of Cleveland Arts Prize Goes Live. Art Acts, the performance art company she founded with Mark Jenks was twice selected as featured performers for Cleveland's International Performance Art Festival. Art Acts has also created works for Lake View Cemetery, The Cleveland Orchestra, The Cleveland Playhouse and Cleveland Opera on Tour.

In 2010 Robin received a Creative Workforce Fellowship and a Launch Fellowship. Prior to this she has been honored with the Governor's Award from the Ohio Arts Council, the Robert P. Bergman Award by the Cleveland Arts Prize and the Joseph Piggott Award from University Circle Inc.
This spring Robin is creating the props for the City Music performance of Brundibar.
