Recognizing the Capacity of Arts and Culture to Bring Us Closer to the Society We Want to See
SPACES
2900 Detroit Ave
3pm-4pm (Joyce Awards Workshop)
4pm-5:30pm (Panel: Raymond Bobgan, Daniel Gray-Kontar, and Jessica Pinsky)
As part of the Joyce Foundation's annual series of convenings in the Great Lakes region, the Joyce Culture program will host six meetings from February 24th through March 13th in Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, Indianapolis, Milwaukee and Minneapolis/St. Paul. These meetings will bring awareness to the Joyce Awards, a competitive program that funds the commissioning of artists of color whose works and themes merit greater awareness.
Details about the awards and the most recent winners are available here.
An information session for artists and organizations seeking additional insight into applying for Joyce Awards will be followed by a larger conversation between artists and civic leaders. This event is open to all and will reflect on the urgency of art as a necessary end in itself and as an essential element of civic strategy in these times.
If you would like to learn more about the Joyce Awards information sessions and/or attend the culture convenings that will follow featuring some of the most compelling art makers and thinkers in the region, please RSVP through Eventbrite for a salon from the list below.
All events are free, and light refreshments will be served.
Please feel welcome to share with your networks.
