Lunchtime Lecture in the Peter B. Lewis Theater at the Cleveland Institute of Art, 11610 Euclid Avenue, 44106.

As a long time resident of the United States of America but a Japanese citizen, Yoko Inoue has spent a long time discovering how the post-war period transformed her native country and the impact that this has had on The USA. Much of Yoko's work grapples with this duality of cross-cultural melding. Her work takes the form of performance and multi-media. Her background in Ceramics often leads to work that is influenced by the history of ceramics.

In this lecture, Yoko will talk about the arc of her career and the motivations for her work.

Yoko Inoue is a multidisciplinary artist whose working methodology includes sculpture, installation, collaborative socially engaged art projects, and public intervention performance art. Originally from Kyoto, Japan, Inoue explores themes of assimilation and cultural identity.
