No Exit is pleased to be presenting the second installment in the ensembleʼs year-long celebration of the music, mind, mirth and mayhem of the original musical Dadaist, Erik Satie. In an effort to present Satieʼs music as just not a bit of history, but as part of a ʻlivingʼ legacy, No Exit has commissioned seven new pieces which represent each composerʼs personal take on Satie and how his influence has shaped their own musical universe. These will be presented in the form of six short piano pieces a-la-Satiern (composed by Geoffrey Burleson, David Rakowski, Robert Honstein, Kevin Eppich, James Praznik and Timothy Beyer) along with a structured improvisation based on Monsieur Satieʼs incomparable Vexations. The program will also feature works by Heinz Holliger, Georges Delerue, and a world premiere performance of Buck McDanielʼs Ride.
This is going to be a truly unique and wonderful musical experience!
