Brittany Campbell was born in Columbus, Georgia on April 19, 1987. She received her BFA from the Cleveland Institute of Art in 2009. She acquired many accolades for her video work including The Best Live Action Award at the 2008 EMIT Cinematheque Cleveland. She worked as a video documentation intern for Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival in 2008. She collaborated with artist DJ Olive (of the 2007 Whitney Biennial) to create work for The Future Collective, in Cleveland Ohio. In 2010 she contributed her knowledge of weaving and textiles in the production of Anne Wilson's Local Industry at the Knoxville Museum of Art. She received her MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art in 2013. There she was a 2013 Mercedes Benz Emerging Artist Award finalist. Studying with Critical Studies Fellow Shannon Stratton inspired her to be founder of the artist run initiative SITEUNSEEN. While living in the Detroit area she has performed for live audiences at The Contemporary Art Institute Detroit and Cranbrook Art Museum. She currently lives in the Columbus area and teaching at Columbus College of Art and Design, as well as Columbus State.
