In 2014 Christina Vassallo relocated to Cleveland from New York City, to become the Executive + Artistic Director of SPACES. Her most notable SPACES initiatives include launching a $3 million capital campaign, spearheading a renovation and relocation project, expanding outreach initiatives, developing 2 regrant opportunities for local artists, and curating critically acclaimed issue-oriented group exhibitions. Christina is a 2019-2020 cohort member of National Arts Strategies’ Chief Executive Program, a Spring 2020 Marshall Memorial Fellow, and she was named one of Crain's Cleveland's 40 Under 40 in 2017. She was an ex oficio board member of the Cleveland Museum of Art’s Contemporary Art Society and a contributor to the Cuyahoga Arts & Culture's Support for Artists Planning Team.

Prior to joining the SPACES team Christina was the Executive Director of Flux Factory, a nonprofit organization and art collective in Queens, NY. Additionally, she has independently curated exhibitions for a variety of non-profit and for-profit venues, including Jersey City Museum, chashama, NURTUREart, Lafayette College, New Haven University, and New Jersey State Museum. She previously served as Associate Director of Kinz, Tillou + Feigen Gallery and as Assistant Curator at American Federation of Arts.

Christina has been named the next Executive Director of the Fabric Workshop and Museum in Philadelphia, effective January 2, 2019. This unique institution supports experimentation among leading contemporary artists and shares the process of creating works of art with the public.
