Corrie Slawson l Quarter Art
Corrie Slawson's work involves constant consideration of places that teeter between vitality and vacancy. Using composited photography as journalistic survey of properties, she builds macro and microscopic city- and landscapes on paper using mixed print media, drawing and collage. Corrie's work has been exhibited in Cleveland at MOCA, Zygote Press, SPACES, The Sculpture Center and Rooms to Let (Columbus), the Toledo Art Museum, Rockford Museum of Art (IL) and in Dresden, Germany and Tijuana, Mexico. In 2011 she was awarded an Ohio Arts Council Individual Artist grant and is included in The Drawing Center's (NYC) Viewing Program.
Cleveland Heights artist Corrie Slawson received a BFA from Parsons School of Design (1997). Slawson has exhibited at MOCA Cleveland, Zygote Press, SPACES, LAND Studio, Beck Center for the Arts and The Sculpture Center. Nationally, she has exhibited in Nashville (TN), Columbus (OH) and at the Rockford Art Museum (IL) and internationally in Dresden, Germany.
In 2011, Slawson was awarded an Individual Artist Excellence grant from the Ohio Arts Council and in that same year, a residency in Dresden, Germany through the OAC and Zygote Press. In 2013, her portfolio was added to The Drawing Center's (NY) Viewing Program. In 2014, Slawson will travel to China to participate in the TJinCHINA Project Space.
