Emily Watson was born in 1974 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina and grew up in Charlottesville, Virginia. She currently lives in Columbus, Ohio. She received her MFA from the State University of New York at New Paltz in 2003 and her BA from Oberlin College in 1996. While studying at the State University of New York at New Paltz, she was a recipient of the Graduate Student Research and Creative Projects Awards from 2001 to 2002. In 2006, she was given a Career Advancement Mini-Grant (Strategic Opportunity Stipend) from the New York Foundation for the Arts.
My work draws on two main sources of inspiration: geography and anatomy. While very different in scope and tangibility, both allow me to reference the physical world and our place in it.
