Lauren Davies' mixed media work explores our often-troubled relationship to the natural world. The unifying element found in her eclectic projects is the experimental use of unlikely materials and an underlying dark humor.
Davies recently relocated to the Cleveland area after many years in San Francisco where she received her MFA in sculpture from the San Francisco Art Institute. She has exhibited her mixed media installations, sculpture and drawings in the Bay Area at The Oakland Museum, De Saisset Museum, The Exploratorium, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, The Headlands, The Intersection, U.C. Davis/Nelson Gallery, Gallery 16 and ampersand international arts. In 2014 she presented an installation at Dose Projects in Brooklyn. Davies has been an artist-in-residence at the California Academy of Sciences, Djerassi Resident Artists Program, Santa Fe Art Institute, The Lab and La Porte Peinte in France. She received an Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Award in 2015. Davies was born in California on 4/21/57.
