Speed Studio Visits

SPACES is pleased to announce 8x8x8, an event that challenges artists in our region to hone their skills of discussing their work with curators and critics. 8x8x8 turns the SPACES gallery into a round-robin for 8 artists to interact in quick, 8-minute succession with 8 art professionals. For the second year in a row--to coincide with our Art Writer-in-Residence program--we're bolstering critical dialogue centered around the visual arts, with this fast-paced event.

At the start of each 8 minute pairing, the artist will give an elevator pitch about their work, and then the art professional will give feedback, follow-up, and/or inquiries to the artist. Once the whistle blows, the art pros move to the next artist and begin the dialogue again. Artists are welcome to register on a first-come-first-served basis, but must be current Season Pass holders.

SPACES will simultaneously host an "open studios" section where artists can lay out their work and speak about it with each other and members of the public. Artists participating in this section need not be Season Pass holders (though why wouldn't you want to have access to plenty of cool members-only events throughout the year?)

All artists seeking to participate in this event, either at the 8x8x8 table or in the open studio section, must RSVP here: cvassallo@SPACESgallery.org

This event is free and open to the public. Come join us!
