An Evening with the Artist: José Carlos Teixeira

"On Exile" Closing Presentation

Friday, October 13, 2017, 6:30PM - 8:30PM

Join SPACES R&D artist José Carlos Teixeira for a special film highlights and Q&A of On Exile. Meet some of the featured refugees including Hawo Abdi, Aws Alallawee, and Sahar Daghstani, and Cleveland Field Office Director Karin Wishner from the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants.

In-Sight will also be present with "Through Refugee Eyes," a collection of photographs taken by Abdulazez Dukhan, a refugee from Homs, Syria. Abdulazez's photos capture the harsh realities of living in the camps juxtaposed with the humanity and resilience of those who live there.

In-Sight is a global network of advocates that seeks to bring to light some of the largest and most difficult humanitarian crises our world faces. Our site is geared towards juxtaposing these crises with pictures and stories to demonstrate the humanity and resilience of those who are experiencing them, both as volunteers and as the survivors. In doing this, we hope to successfully amplify the voices of those who often go unheard and to stir up a call to action by providing useful information and resources for those wanting to not only educate themselves, but also get involved.
