Artist Talk with Cannaday Chapman

November 8, 6:30 - 8 PM
SPACES is a founding member of Hingetown Culture Works --a consortium of local businesses, nonprofits, and residents that collaborate on free programming in the Hingetown area of Ohio City. We are teaming up with Cleveland-based artist Cannaday Chapman to create a large-scale mural on the south-facing wall of the Cleveland Memorial Shoreway, beneath Route 2, at W. 28th Street, just off of Detroit Ave.
Chapman has gained international prominence in the creative community through such high-profile artistic commissions as a New Yorker magazine cover and a Google Doodle. In developing his design for the Flora mural, Chapman carefully considered the surrounding environment and existing infrastructure, in order to create a piece that will be in dialogue with its surroundings while also acting as a bold and creative focal point for the neighborhood.
During his artist talk at SPACES, Chapman will discuss his previous work and his inspiration for his first large-scale mural.
