Friday, October 10, 2014, 8:00PM - 10:00PM

The Andrew Alden Ensemble will accompany Carnival of Souls with their unique mix of classical music and electronics to transform this film into a multimedia live event. Instrumentation includes electric guitar, drum set, synthesizer, piano, violin and viola, and the techniques of live circuit bending and analog tape looping to create experimental sound effects that will be unique to every performance.

Here is an example of The Andrew Alden Ensemble's work with the movie Night of the Living Dead .

Carnival of Souls a macabre masterpiece, created with an extremely modest budget, has become a cult classic and continues to inspire filmmakers with its horrific imagery and unrelenting malaise. Mary Henry (Candace Hilligoss) survives a drag race in a rural Kansas town, then takes a job as a church organist in Salt Lake City. En route, she becomes haunted by a bizarre apparition that compels her to an abandoned lakeside pavilion and a mysteriously abandoned carnival filled with the souls of the dead
