As part of the SPACES's 2012 Tourism show, the CUDC takes us on a tour that speculates about Cleveland tourism in the future--places and objects in the city that can become tourist destinations, in an expanded definition of the term. We invite Clevelanders to see the city as we see it?a treasure trove of landscapes and artifacts waiting to be discovered.

Join CUDC for an evening tourist excursion to Canal Basin Park and the RTA easement between West 25th and West 65th Street.

Event participants arrive at Settlers Landing where historic characters explain some of the history and features of the Canal Basin site and the Flats. Visitors will board one of two, 10-person rocket cars for a trip to the future (through the past) in the area around Canal Basin Park and along the RTA easement between West 25th Street and West 65th Street that is lovingly maintained by volunteers from the Rotary Club of Cleveland. Midway through the tour, the rockets will park on the RTA bridge above Hart Crane Park for scenic views and photo opportunities.

The rocket cars will circulate throughout the event. Due to limited seating, reservations for seats on the rockets will be taken prior to the event. Performers, refreshments, and a bonfire will entertain visitors while they wait to embark on the rocket.
