Think you can't do yoga? Think again and come to an energizing, balancing and calming yoga class followed by tea and cookies, time to ask questions about yoga and to peruse the exhibitions before the gallery opens to the public.
Martha Loughridge (aka Madhuramurti), an Accredited Yoga Teacher in the Satyananda Yoga tradition (http://www.northamericangurukul.org/satyananda-yoga.php), will teach a class that is appropriate for beginners to experienced yoga students. Accommodations and instruction will be provided for all levels. Satyananda Yoga is known worldwide as an integrated approach to yoga that draws from the ancient yogic and tantric texts and is presented in a practical form that you can incorporate into your daily life.
Please bring a mat, a light blanket, an empty stomach and an open mind. Wear comfortable layered clothing. Be prepared to practice yoga asana (movements/postures), yoga breathing practices and a guided meditation practice.
Plan to arrive not later than 9:45 a.m. to set up and prepare yourself for the class. The class will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. and conclude at 11:30 a.m. Tea and cookies will be available after the class, and Martha will be available to answer your questions.
Suggested donation $10-25. Online pre-registration is recommended: https://www.spacesgallery.org/shop/tickets. All proceeds will benefit SPACES.
