Cleveland-based artist Wes Johansen has been fascinated with the power and impact television has on our culture. The artist will explore how television slips into every day conversation, how the internet has the potential to replace the traditional t.v.-watching experience, and why television programming has such a presence in our daily lives and culture. Johansen will create a gathering space in the gallery where people can watch t.v. together and discuss their "cultural fixes." The artist will transform the space into a traditional family room setting where visitors can engage with their favorite shows while surrounded with the images of fictitious family members, characters and storylines.
Johansen has exhibited work throughout Cleveland at venues including the Ingenuity Festival, Loft 305, Asterisk Gallery, BridgeMix Pop Up City, and Heights Arts.
