The Vault (November - January, 2014)

Channel TWo (CH2), José Carlos Teixeira
November 15 - January 17, 2014

The Vault functions as a media flat file-a converted walk-in safe where audiences can experience a variety of video and audio art. Work is added to The Vault on a rolling basis where it remains on view for approximately six months before rotating out. Viewers have the remote control in their hands to select the work they would like to experience.

Till The World Ends (with Station Identification), 2013
Pushed out of the city centers, they find on the frontiers the kind of "neighborhood feeling" they missed in the prefab houses of suburbia and bumper stickers that say..."no other possibility." Everybody is sad, but it's a weird kind of sad. Poppin bottles in the ice, like a blizzard, when we drink we do it right gettin' slizzard. Everyone agrees that things can only get worse. See the sunlight, we ain't stopping. Keep on dancing till the world ends. If you feel it let it happen. Keep on dancing till the world ends. Keep on dancing till the world ends. Keep on dancing till the world ends Woah oh oh oh oh oh ohhh.[x8].

THE FALL – o exercicio da queda, 2012
This video project stems from a highly personal premise and is based on a participatory and collaborative event. Starting from the definition of "fall", which in the English semantics adopts several meanings and interpretations, the piece advances into an investigation both visual and theoretical.

BEING OTHER (a new community), 2009
José Carlos Teixeira uses video as a creative tool to ask how could we together develop a reflection based on themes of identity, otherness, home vs. exile, having the city and its memory as departure points?
